Guys,
Does anyone know the process for filing I-485 for derivative Asylees .My child is a minor. Does he also has to go for FP and interview process like me.BTW I filed my I-485 on sep 2001. Secondly, is it a better ideal to file for him now or wait till i get my GC and then file for his ??
thanks,

Asylee13 I want to know did you get your FP notice yet? Because my I 485 was filled in July 2001 and I haven't receive FP notice yet, and some of the people filled I 485 in 2003 they had the FP notice in 2004 I don't know why.

You should file every I-485 in your case at the time you file I-485. If you have not did it, you need do it as soon as possible. Getting GC doesn't speed up your son's case. Only you get Citizen, your son will get GC right away.

filing I-485 for a minor

Asylee13,

File I-485 for your child after he was physically present in US in the asylee status for one year. Children less than 12 years old do not required to be fingerprinted, as a result – you don’t have to submit $70 biometric fee for him.
Derivative cases applications are being adjusted separately from principal applicant, unless your child was included in your asylum application from the beginning. Everybody gets adjusted according to their ND, principal or derivative – everyone will have their own place in the line. That’s what my lawyer and the immigration officer on a phone told me.
Your child might or might not be called for the adjustment interview.

Yes, douls, i have been FP in Sep this year.
Thanks, guys for your valuable advice. The reason i asked this was because my wife and i are going through some family crises. We might get separated. She has the passport of my son. I know she can file her I-485 independently but she doesn't know that. But she is not letting me file for my son's I-485 only which i want to go right now. I was thinking , wait till i get my citizenship and he would be eligible for GC automatically.
