I am a DV 2008 winner. Can someone on this forum provide following information.

1) It appears that interviews are schduled after one's number has become current. How long one usually has to wait for the interview date afther his/her number has become current?

2) When the second letter is issued? Is it issued when one's number has become current? or it is issued before that? What is the significane of second letter?

3) When security check is done? Is it done before the interview or it starts after the interview? Is there any way that one can get the security check started before the interview? (especially in case when the number of that person is expected to become current very late near september)

I will appriciate any useful information provided. Those who have gone through the process are particularly requested to reply.

1) sometimes it's the same month (for which the number becomes current), or a month after
2) about 4 weeks before the interview. No significance, as long as you know your interview date.
3) most of the time - after the interview, and sometimes - before. You can't influence when and how YOUR security check will be performed. Sometimes people don't get their visas because the check is late.

2nd Letter.

1. What is the significant of second letter?
2. Can one visit the embassy (possibly for interview) if the second letter is not received when ones number becomes current?
3. How do you get to know your interview date?
Thanks to all contributors.

2) you can get your interview date from KCC. You must show up for the interview to get your visa.

I also have question about Medical Examination: can we do medical examination now or should we wait for the 2nd letter? Thank you.

do it as close to the day of the interview as possible. The medexam results must be under a year old when you enter the US with your immigrant visa.
