Dear all,
This forum has been so important for me. Now I am looking for help as usual
I was granted asylum a year ago. Now I am planning to apply for a green card . I am unemployed . I am just wondering if I can go a head with a fee waiver. Your inputs are so indespensible.
Thanks,

Dear members:

I have question regarding fee waiver too. What kind of proof should I provide to qualify for a fee waiver to GC application? Would requesting for a fee waiver slow down the process of getting GC and possibly for interview with IO? Anyone had similar experience? Thanks

The walker: do u have to provide all the documentations shown in that link? what kind of documentation did u submit for the fee waiver? how long does USCIS normally take to approve or deny your fee waiver application? Thanks

I don't know man. I submitted a Credit Card statement, copy of my Car Loan, copies of last year's W-2s, Internet and Cable bill, an Affidavit, copy of Insurance bill and my first paycheck of the year....

I have no clue on how long they will take to approve or deny the fee waiver application.

I applied for a fee waiver in September last year, I took them 10 days for a decision, I got a receipt notice and it says fee waived, though in some cases it takes up to 30 days, good luck,

Hi takuru:

What kind of documents did u submit to them for the fee waiver? Should we be unemployed or work at minimum wage OR lots of credit card bill and few money on bank account to get them to approve the fee waiver?

Were you interview for your I-485 GC application? Thanks

I sent 2007 and 2008 taxes, though I wasn't working, my utilities bills some which were 30 days behind, credit card statements which had payments arrangements, copy of benefit card,

My case took 5 months to get approved, no interview,

You have to include an affidavit as well, that you are unable to come up with amount required fees,

Guys: In takuru's case, the benefit card is the key. If you are collecting any kind of means-tested benefits, you should not hesitate applying for the fee waiver. In most the cases, USCIS approves fee waivers from individuals who are collecting benefits.
If you used to work and are now out of work, then you will have to convince them that you can not pay. In any case, if you don't have the money, try the fee waiver. They will either approve in which case you get your greencard, or they deny and they return the whole application back in which case you can refile with fee. good luck everybody

Do we need to redo the medical if they disapproved our fee waivers? The reason why I ask is because the Doc's report ( Medical ) is sent in a sealed envelope.

Any recent I-485 filers in here? I filed my application abt 18 days ago and I still haven't received my receipt.
