I agree with you whole heartedly

Please write constructive words and partcipate actively (directly or indirectly). Voicing frustration alone will not help further our cause. From your post I didn't understand what are you cursing about.

The companies, employers, immigration attorneys don't care where the retrogression numbers are. You have a genuine concern. Spread it wisely to your colleagues in this forum, to other forums, contribute a small amount of money to people who are organizing, meeting congressmen and senators. I hope you will view these suggestions in the correct spirit.

Listen, I understand that there're a lot of active members here that are in contact with government officials and I am not sure if they'll get anywhere with this method of approaching the system to come up with a resolution on this issue...I propose that we set up a peaceful demonstration in front of major INS building to elevate the awareness regarding the retro issue...This has been done in the past...Remember after Sep-11 that the government issued an order for male middleEasterns to be registered at their local INS office...People started demostrating in front of the government buildings in LA and they got their voice out, as a result the government stoped racially profiling people based on their nationality by forcing them to register...That's the only way...Don't come and tell me that pushing paper from this official to another will help the issue...Don't come and tell me that I shouldn't voice my fraustration out here becuase this is partly what this forum is all about...I hope that you grasp my comments with good spirit... :D :D

Retrogression is here to stay

Guys and Gals

Please be aware, there were more H-1B from India than any other country - over the past 4-5 years India has been sending over half of all H-1B professionals. So, naturally, there are more people from Indian applying for Employment based GC.

Year 2000: H1B quota: 65,000 === estimated Indians: > 30,000 ; Max GC for India: ~25000; backlog: > 5,000

Year 2001: H1B quota: 195,000 === estimated Indians: > 90,000 ; Max GC for India: ~25000; backlog: > 65,000

Year 2002: H1B quota: 195,000 === estimated Indians: > 90,000 ; Max GC for India: ~25000; backlog: > 65,000

Year 2003: H1B quota: 195,000 === estimated Indians: > 90,000 ; Max GC for India: ~25000; backlog: > 65,000

Year 2004: H1B quota: 85,000 === estimated Indians: > 40,000 ; Max GC for India: ~25000; backlog: > 15,000

Year 2005: H1B quota: 85,000 === estimated Indians: > 40,000 ; Max GC for India: 25000; backlog: > 15,000

=>>> Implies over 225,000 Indians are in queue.

Based on Eb2/ Eb3 poll, ratio of EB2: EB3 is 1:2 i.e. for every EB2 person, there are two EB3 people.

This implies over 75,000 EB2 category Indians are possible. EVEN If they allocate the entire Indian quota to EB2, it will still take 3 years to reach 2005.

So, retrogression is here to stay !!!!

Legislation created 245(i) but not adequate visas

I think we can make noise based on this, they created/extended 245(i) law for illegal aliens but not enough visas for them, this is very unfair and unjust. We should make noise about this and we ALL should push hard on the coming immigration legislation bills in 2006.

How abt converting to EB2? Is that a good option? File for PERM and use old PD?

To support this argument
------------------------
You need to add spouse and children who are also counted in visa numbers.
It is worse than what your numbers show.

To oppose this
---------------
Eb1, Eb2 were current till six months back.
Again BEC had not churned out Labor and Perm had just started kicking in

Altogether it is here to stay unless some new regulation kicks in.

Yes, estimates can be fine tuned

I think we can further fine tune the estimates of backlog - let me give a short at that, hopefully, over the weekend. I think it would be a good to estimate a few scenarios.

Any inputs on fine-tuning are appreciated.
