I am curious what exactly are the FBI is looking for. My wife applied for a mortgage loan and she had a paper to sign saying that she is USC. She signed it. We applied for GC but I am afraid the FBI will discover that she had declared herself USC before USCIS did. What happens if they do find out? Will she be deported?

Be Careful, That's A Terrible Mistake To Label Yourself As Us Citizen If You're Not, To Vote If You Not. If Uscis Foud Out Of Course She Could Faced Deportation, If She Is Not Citizen Yet. As Far Sa I Know,the Fbi Investigation Doesn't Go That Drive. In General,they Are Usually Monitoring Fraud (eligibility For The Benefit), Criminal Background, Terrorist Suspects.

Themen is correct. You can not represent yourself to be USC without actually being one. Even on the application for citizenship I believe it asks have you ever representated yourself to be a citizen while you were not. How are you going to answer that?
Most any benefits available to citizens is also available to legal residents so labeling yourself a citizen while not being one is not the right way to go.
The FBI check as themen mentioned does not go that route but if they were to ever find out, your citizenship can be stripped and deportation orders can be lodged against you.

You can always say that it was an innocent mistake and she misunderstood the purpose of thhe signature.Call up the mortgage company and let them know,that it was a mistake.You should be ready to give up any benefits that u may have got becoz she signed as a citizen.

Your husband knew he was not a citizen when he applied for a mortgage, and knowingly made a false representation which, worst of all, he signed the loan papers for it. He was on a roll to fast track citizenship, which included lying to the financial institutions....

USCIS is not interested in what box he checks for "US citizen," or "Permanent Resident," on a house mortgage, they are more interested, and check, if he has voted, or signed up to. All they have to do is call the finance company and say it was an error on the company's behalf. You make it sound like the guy will be cuffed, thrown on a plane, and deported for good. calm down. Making comments such as " Nothing Is Going To Save Your Husband" is jumping the gun....Take a xanox!

Perhaps she didn't notice the question or wasn't asked by the mortgager. Just shut your mouth about the whole thing. If it comes up, then worry about it. The FBI does the background check via the NCIC, they do not have the time to do a full background check.

What is NCIC? What is involved in the back ground check? I have been told that background checks involve checks in US as well as the counrty of origination. Does it involve credit history, work history (employment), residence history, etc. in US as well as country of origination?
