Hi Folks,

One of my friend's parent are citizen and has applied for family based GC for their son and his wife and one kid (currently 4yrs), as usual the application is pending from the last ~7yrs. Now, they (parents) are planing to celebrate their forthcoming marriage annivarsary. Bottom line is they would temorarily want them to visit them as they have not met from last 5 yrs. My questions are :
1. Is there any way out (any) that they can call the family of their son whose GC application is pending to visit them alteast for those celberations on visitor visa. As far as I understand general answer is in normal cases such visitor visa is denied. If some one has any experience with the same situation please advice or suggest any expert opinion.
2. Alternative if I sponser (or invite) them will that make any difference in chnaces of visa application approval.

Thanks for your help.

Prospective immigrants do not qualify for visitor visas, sorry. The US citizens can visit him and his family in their home country.

It's going to be hard, but possible. I got visit visa while my green card application was pending. Your friend will have to show strong binding ties and good career back home. Like in my case, if he is coming from a developing country then any visits to Europe etc will be a plus point. Your friend should write truth in his visa application, if he lies then he might be in trouble when his immigrant visa number becomes available as the consulate will say that you denied to be the beneficiary of immigrant petition when you applied for visit visa.
http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=228969&page=12 see this thread there are few more who got nonimmigrant visas while waiting for immigration.

p.s: you know newer version of non-immigrant application doesn't have the question, " Have some one ever filed an immigrant visa petition on your behalf", but it does ask about your parents citizen ship. New version is not widely used yet.
