F1 (while in school) to H1, please help.

Hi everyone,

I would like to ask experienced people and gurus about F1 to H1 conversion.
All responses and suggestions are much appreciated.

The situation:
I already got my Master's degree and completed my OPT last year. Now I applied for another MFA program and got a new F1 visa.

Question:
- After the first year that I study at this school, if I have a company that will sponsor my H1 visa, can I have a change of status from F1 to H1 before I graduate?

- If assuming that I will get an H1 approval just in time of my second year, is it possible to apply for H1 before my first year passes? Or do I have to wait until I complete my first year at school then apply for H1?

I would like to start working as soon as possible since I already got one Master's degree in the US.

I got one more question to ask.
If I file an H1 when I am in school, will I still be in F1 status during the period that I am waiting to get H1 approval?

That means, if you apply through a for profit company you'll have to wait until October 1 of the year same you applied in case your H1B was approved.

If it was for a non-profit like universities and other institutions, I dont think you've a wait date then.

F1 to H1

I have a similar query as you had answered before.

" I am in school right now(just joined PhD) and applied for my H1B in Adv Cap quota this FY2007 and got my approval.I am visiting to India for a month and be back in Sep,2007.Obviously my start date would be from Oct 1,2007.I was wondering if I will have any problem in my status in the interim if I leave the country and come back on F1."

I have B2 visa and already apply for F1 visa. But I want to convert my visa first F1 and then H1. Wright now, one company which is marketing business and has a good turnover apprx. $1,000,000.00 per year and is ready to hire as a practical training and after that ready to sign H1 paper for me as a managerial post. And also, I already have good experience about 7 years that business. I am wonder about the procedure and what are the possibilities to get H1 and how much time it will take?
 
Right now or until next Oct 1, 2008 you do not have any chance to join any job through H1.

You can only join your school , if your change of status to F1 gets approved.
