Hi folks,
Here's the situation: the person in question is single, but engaged to a PR.
She has admission to a graduate program (M.S.) here in the United States. The total cost of education is aroundabouts US $28000 for the entire program (including living expenses). She can only show personal funds of upto US $10000.
The department chair at the University here has plenty of money but cannot commit to a full tuition assistantship at this time (funds will be available in Fall '05 and only after the grad student arrives in the University). However, after explaining them the situation they said that they could write a letter stating that are willing to offer financial aid upon arrival as typically funds are available starting Fall 2005.
My question is:
Would that work? How should the University word the letter? Do they need to mention the money offered upon the I-20 document as well? What additional supporting documentation does the student need?
Thanks a bunch. I would really appreciate your assistance.
