F1 visa second time

I was in J-1 status for a year (au pair) then i switched to F-1 without leaving the us. after 10 months, my student status was cancelled due to non-payment. i switched school in the meantime and instead of aapplying for reinstatement from the us, i am going to my home country to ask for a new visa.

anyone has any experience/advice on this?
is there anything i shoudl prepare for the interview?
am i going to be approved/denied the same day of the interview?
 
Thx for your reply. I am within those "allowed 5 months". My status was cancelled on November 5, so now it will be 4 months in March.
