im planning to go for MS in the US and will be going for my F1 visa interview soon.
But my major problem is ,i have a sister in the US,who happens to be a green card holder, and the university where im going is in the same city as hers.
So do u think that this could be a major reason for my visa to get rejected??
And how should i convinence the VO's and my intensions r clear and i not an immigrant????
People please advice as im really tensed!!!!!

Simply having a green card holder sister in the US cannot create a situation of rejection for F-1 visa. I have known of cases where the siblings have gone to the US and stayed there illegally or committed fraud and then only their India based siblings have problems. Otherwise, I see no problem in your case.

a sibling is not responsible for a sibling in the States.

Since your sister cannot apply for your immigration until she becomes a citizen, and even then it would take 12-15 years, I think you have a chance as good as anybody else.

any update

Any update on the interview and visa, I am in similar situation like yours

hi ,
i got my Visa.I mad mentioned abt my sister in the Application form.but the VO did not ask me a single Question abt her.
My interview was very short, for abt 2 mins,I was asked just 2 questions:
which university?
Why this university?
That's all.I got my visa.

So dont worry too much, and be honest.
