A friend of mine has an F1 visa issued for 5 yrs for a Masters programme from India. He has an annotation on the visa which mentions his university name. It also says that his masters 1-20 expires on a particular date. Then it says" Not the same as class entry." He finished his masters and now has a new I-20 for Phd and his visa is valid for another 2 yrs. Will he have a problem in reentry from his home country based on this anotation. Also he is in the same university where he finished his masters.

As long as he has an I-20, I don't see an issue with regards to his re-entry.
