F1 to H4 requirements

Hi,
I want to change my status from F1 to H4. I am marrying a H1 guy.
I have to leave the country by Oct 12th, or else I'll be out of status.
Is applying for marriage fine enough, to apply, for change of status to H4.
----------------- after after marriage you need marriage certificate and should be on valid status in US and can apply with form I-539 from F1 to H4 change of status and your petition must reach USCIS before your I-94 gets expired.
You are going out of US before October 12. If you are getting married out of US then after marriage get marriage certificate and then apply for H4 visa at US embassy or US consulate. You will need H1 papers, pay stubs, I-94 copy front and back, passport copy and employer letter that your spouse is working on H1

Thanks for reply. But, I want to marry in US before 12th. It might not be possible. But, at least applying for marriage (i.e. marriage application not marriage certificate) is fine enough to apply for change of status to H4?
And if the process is fine, can I stay in US after Oct 12th, just by applying for change of status to H4?

You will need marriage certificate to apply Change of status from F1 to H4. if you go out of US then also you need marriage certificate.Without marriage certificate how will you prove to USCIS or US consulate that you are spouse of H1 holder and eligible for H4? For more info you can talk to your lawyer.
