F1 students opting for AOS

Hi folks,
I have a relative who had his GC in 2006 and started working last month. He has no assets now, but his annual income is approximately $60K. Can I use him as my sponsor? Thanks.

han, u have to have copy of tax returns and he should know what that is. The US embassy wants to make sure that he pays taxes.
 
Suggestion....

dv2008gh, I suggest you peruse the forum before shooting the "rapid fire" questions. You just might find the answers much sooner than u think

Do I need to include a letter of verification of status from the office of international programs from my university in the package to Chicago or the I-20 and I-94 forms are ok?

I-20 and I-94 would work. Thats all i used for mine.
 
use copies, not originals. :)

you'd be surprised how many people send the originals in... never to see them again.
 
I can't wait for the August bulletin. I have a quick question. Do I have to send the originals of the affidavit of support documents (including 1-134) or a photocopy?

I have rather a complicated problem.

I'm a grad student and planning to graduate in August. So I should be applying for OPT in next a couple of days. Now, my case number became current in November last year.

Any possibility that OPT application and process that would finish by August or September could effect this AOS process, considering that I'll be sending my package to the lockbox in November?

Anyone who had a similar situation with OPT and AOS application?
 
Hey,

I am actually in the same situation as yours. I dont think your OPT will impact your AOS negatively except that you have to pay extra extra for EAD via OPT which is already part of the cost of AOS. Your Green card should have arrived by the time your OPT runs out.

I thought GC would arrive by February or March with this CN (its EU7XXX).
