F1 - going home question

Hello,

I have a question about traveling back home. I graduated from UNT in May 2003 and have been on OPT since then and my OPT expires on May 26th this year. I am accepted into the graduate program in UTD and they will issue my I-20 from there on May 26th. That means that my F1 status has not be discontinued ever since I attended UNT.
I went back home in August 2002 and they gave me an F1 visa that is valid until December 2006. If I go home this summer, would I be able to use the same visa since it's still valid even though it says UNT on it?

Thanks so much.

I believe you need to have a valid I-20 from UNT to return on an F-1 visa issued by UNT. Otherwise you need a valid 1-20 from UTD as well as a visa with UTD on it.

have you tried the option of transferring from ur current school to new school? Your best bet would be to seek answer from ur ISSS.

yes, you will be to use your valid visa with the new I-20 from a different school.

The requirement is that the first time you use your F-1 visa -- you have to enroll in the same school for which it was issued. If later on you transferred - you can use your visa again with new I-20.
