F-1 student applying for marraige based GC

Hey,

I am F-1 student, just got married to US citizen. I am in a process of applying for GC and have some questions regarding that

1. Will filing for GC affect my F-1 status? Will it revoke it?
2. Can I travel outside US on F-1 visa until I get my AP?
3. Can I continue to work on basis of my F-1 (research assistant) until my EAD is approved?
4. My F-1 will expire in July 2008 can I still stay in US legally until my GC is approved or will I have to extend my F-1?
5. Should I submit all the forms together to the Chicago lock box?

1.- Not until the GC is approved. But you must maintain your F-1 status.
2.- No. Only L1 or H1 (dual intent visas) holders can travel without AP. After you file, you must wait for the AP or your petition will be considered abandoned.
3.- Yes.
4.- You can stay legally until the GC is approved.
5.- YES.

You can leave without a problem. Returning would be a different ball-game altogether. Leaving with an I-485 in the works, unless you have an AP document, your AOS will be considered abandoned.
