Extension and Revalidation Question

Hello everyone,

Sorry if this question has already been answered, but I couldn't find it in FAQ and the forums...

My question is simple, once someone gets an H1-B stamped in his home country, after 3 years, when the person applies for extension, and gets accepted, does the person have to go back to his home country to get re-stamped? Can't the person just keep working? (I don't care about any limitations on traveling if I don't get the H-1 stamping again).

Please shed some light, thanks!

Stamping is required if you want to go out and come back to US. to get re-stamped? Can't the person just keep working? Great Guru,

In regards to your answer, I read somewhere else on this forum that the person may leave the country and come back without a stamp if he/she is leaving for less than 30 days, is that true?

That is incorrect. Stamping is must when you are re-entering.

Even for one day, to come back you need visa valid in your passport, unless you are from visa waiver program.
