Extending GC Validity

We are GC holders, staying away from US since 2.5 years. Our re-entry permit got expired and we visited US before expiring re-entry permit.
Since the job market is not that great in US, we are planning to continue staying in India for another few years and maintain the GC status. I was just wondering if there are any ways to do that except visiting US for every 6 months, which is practically difficult for us.
Appreciate if anyone has any ideas on this matter. Thank you.

Go back and apply for another Reentry Permit, but it could be issued for just one year potentially. Otherwise, try to go every six months, but they could also ask you to see an immigration judge if they decide to (when you next enter the country, or another time). If you want to keep this GC, you're going to have to make the effort to keep it, or move back. I'm not sure the job market is that bad.
