Expired H1, on EAD, How to travel?

Hi All,

My H1 validity stamp has already expired on my passport. I am currently in my 7th yr on an EAD. My I-140 and I-485 are pending.
How do I travel outisde US to India ?

My wife also has an EAD. Her H4 validity stamp has also expired on the passport.
What does she need ?

Specifically do we need approved I-140 to travel outside US?
Is it a good idea to file for Advanced parole without a lawyer ?

-------- For Entry to US, You need Advance Parole to be approved IN US before you go out and will need AP to renter US, for entry to India you need Indian passport if you are not Indian citizen then get Visa for India from any Indian consulate in US

---- You do not need approve I-140 for travel you need Approved AP for travel
Is it a good idea to file for Advanced parole without a lawyer?
---- One can file AP through lawyer or you can file directly if you know how to file and expert in filling up forms. I hope it is your first AP better file through lawyer. Why you and your spouse did not file AP at the time of filling I-485?

We are Indian citizens.
We did not apply for AP at I-485 for no reason but carelessness.

Now we need to travel. One of my friends told me that AP is not issues until we have our I-140 approved.

----- Your friend is WRONG, you both need AP to re-enter if you go out without AP your I-485 will be abandoned and you will NOT be allowed to enter US. Request your friend not to give wrong advice and stay away from this kind of friend, go to lawyer and confirm
