It means that you will be scheduled for an interview as soon as your place in line comes up.

does it relate to DO or overall q. Charlotte (DO) seems to be relatively faster.. so not sure if the q is specific to DO or NBS?

what does your online status show? does it say your application is transferred to local office?

Usually, when your status is waiting in a queue to be scheduled for your interview, it must be within your local DO, your application must be with your local DO and you are in a queue to be scheduled for an interview.

It means that you have been put in queue for an interview pending the next available date.

An application is placed in queue until a slot becomes available at the local DO. However, it remains at NBC until the interview is scheduled. Only then the file is forwarded to the DO.

Yeah, my interview was cancelled"due to unforeseen reasons,etc"...the letter had NYC DO address on it. So I infopassed..they said no action at all in NY about me, it's actually at National Benefits Center. 45 days since then no action..now they are telling me I m still in range of NYC processing time, I should just sit back and be quiet..and aggravate myself meanwhile.
