No, I meant to use the friend's new address on the customs form, then file AR-11 for the new address.I would follow Jacko's advice about using the address on your IDs (if asked) and then later fill out the proper documentation to change it.
An address is important to have for somebody who is spending 10-11 months of the year outside the US. A green card holder who stays within the US nearly all the time can be homeless for years and remain a permanent resident, but one who spends the vast majority of the year outside the US is jeopardizing their green card if they don't have a proper US address.Address in US is not a requirement for GC holder, even a GC holder could be homeless.
