My case is, EB2-PERM, I-485 pending 180+ days.

I was laid off 05/2008. Until yesterday, I got a letter from former attorney which filed I-485 for me on July, 2007, saying they withdrew their representation of Adjustment of Status applications.

Currently, I do not have a new attorney to represent me at USCIS. What will happen after the withdrewal? What should I do? Thanks.

-----------you can hire your lawyer

----------------nothing
What should I do?
------------------ Write letter to USCIS that that lawyer XYZ no more represent you for your pending I-485 and any future communication from USCIS should be sent to your home address………………..
Write your Name, I-485 filing receipt number, your DOB and A# and address on top of cover letter, Sign the cover letter with date and attach the copy of I-485 filing receipt.

Send the letter to USCIS (where your I-485 is pending) with certified return receipt.

Thanks.

After the attorney's withdrawal from the case, USCIS will send RFE's and other I-485 correspondence to you directly instead of the attorney. If you get another attorney, you can sign form G-28 to allow the new attorney to represent you. But an attorney for the I-485 is unnecessary unless you have some complications like criminal issues.

But if you're unemployed, you have other problems to worry about, like getting another "same or similar" job so you can benefit from AC21 instead of having your I-485 denied for lack of a job.

Guys, thank you so much.

I'm considering whether to hire a lawyer. My case has a little complexity. My previous job is "application developer (programmer". Now in new company, though my responsiblity does not change, my title is "Assistant Vice President" - actually, it's just like "senior developer". It's very common at financial companies.

I really appreciate if somebody can help me out with this. Thanks.

Um... okay, I may be clueless when it comes to financial companies, but Assistant Vice President is nowhere near Applications Developer or Programmer! They infer completely different job roles and responsibilities!

No matter how common you say it is, anyone looking at your case would assume the VP isn't coding in a corner cubicle!

I don't mean to be mocking, but you might need to talk to a lawyer - for a VP, the cost should not be too prohibitive!
