it because if ICE shows up, I would be better dressed? I visited USCIS and noticed that officers seem to respect people more when they sports wear, non-professional attire at the court (flip flops, old shirts shorts ..etc. They tend to show more sympathy toward them, seeing them as refugees and have brighter future.
On the other hand, people who attend in business attire often don’t have a great experience with the officers, as it seems more challenging and can even lead to higher legal costs despite their situation (longer processes, file transfers, other processes).
For example, I once had to wait 10 hours for an 8 a.m. interview while wearing business attire, until this was explained to me. I tested it, and business dress code didn’t work well. Now, I plan to go to court dressed in shorts and flipflops to test this experience while discussing my situation.
