Entered lottery with different name

Hi everyone,

I was reading this forum and finally I understand how exactly winners are chosen.

Somehow I think I know the answer, but just to be on the safe side. First I will explain my situation.
Let's say the conditions for DV-2016 are gonna stay the same and there is gonna be DV-2016.
Im married, so me and my partner will apply separately but in our entry we will mention each other as a spouse. Now, my partner has already new passport with our new last name, so there should be no problem. On the other hand myself, I have still in my passport my old last name and Im expecting that in October When the entry opens I will still have the old last name in my passport. But lets say in January I will have new passport and new last name in it. Just in case we will get lucky and one of us will be selected, is my new passport and new (different) last name than what I entered be a problem? Or its gonna be an easy correction.

Thanks a lot
And have a great day.

Yes, you rather enter with your new name than with your maiden name, because names are very tricky ! And it can get you disqualify if you get selected.
So go ahead and enter with you new name, and mean time go and get your docs renewed and updated.
Good luck

Use the name which is documentarily supported on the day of the eDV entry. So, if your name has changed because of marriage, then the marriage cert is the document that supports the change, not the passport. If you have changed your name in some other way, then you should have documents that support that, in hand, on the day you enter the lottery. During the process you will list all names you have used, and you can by that time tie that up with new and old passports.

Namaste Britsimon. Please i have a problem with my names too. On printing my Ordinary and Advanced Level Certificates they omitted an "h" at the end of my last name. instead of "manka- ah" they wrote "manka-a" But all the other documents..Degree..passport..birth certificate..diploma carry the correct spelling. I did a Certificate of Individuality proving am the bearing of both names. Is there still anything i should worry about??? Thanks.

What is very important is your high school diploma to pass the interview, but you should still get your advanced certificate corrected, or at least get an affidavit from the same institution to say that the certificate belong to you...

I believe that's a minor issue. The omission of that letter is likely to be something they will stress about at the interview.

Hello Sm1smom,
Please i dont understand. Please read your comment again. You said its a minor issue and will be stressed on???. Thanks.
