Engineering Degree applying for an H1B-Sponsored Software Consultant Position

ETE is not a disqualification for getting an H1.

Hi,

I'm an Electronics and Telecoms Engineering graduate (5-yr course in my country) and more than 2 years of Software Engineering experience. The applications I usually develop ranges from Financial Applications, Business Applications, etc. for a Telecoms client. And now I'm currently developing applications for different business processes (i.e. payroll, claims processing, etc). I was offered an H1B Sponsorship for a US IT Consultancy Firm and the position I'm applying for is IT Consultant. I've researched about H1B requirements and it states that, "A baccalaureate or higher degree or its equivalent is normally the minimum requirement for entry into the particular position." My question is, will my degree in Electronics and Telecoms Engineering be a factor for H1B Visa denial if the position being offered to me requires a computer science degree. Although from what I know, many firms in the US hires Software Engineers with Engineering Degree depending on their business applications and needs. What are my chances for obtaining an H1B Visa?

Your inputs will be much appreciated.

Thanks.
