hi folks.
i have a very quick question. one of my friends has a unconditional greencard. she's got conditional green card in 2004.then divorce-10 year green card. anyways i thought count for citizenship starts from a day one of green card(regardless 2 year or 10 year greencard).so she could apply for citizenship. but she said that she had consultation with a lawyer and count starts from the day she's got unconditionla green card. im 99% sure i'm right but checked net for that 1% doubt. couldnt find info about divorced ones. everywhere says if you still married 3 years. please tell me that i;m right so i can make her happy with news:). thanks and looking forward for answers

Lawyer is wrong. She can file 5 years after granting of conditional permanent residence.

The lawyer is wrong. The 5 year clock starts counting from the first green card, whether it was conditional or not.
everywhere says if you still married 3 years.
To apply with the 3 year rule, she would have to still be married to a US citizen for the last 3 years, so she can't use that option.

thank you for answers folks.you should've heard her voice when i called her up.she's contacting aanother lawyer on monday. it's so good to know that i can rely on this forum.have a good day everyone
