Eligibility Country

Hi all,

I was born in Sri lanka. I'm now an Australia citizen who want to apply for the Green card lottery.

Question 6 asks for country of eligibility and asks for are you claiming eligibility based on country you were born

IS it an issue if i choose no and select "Australia" as the country I am claiming eligibility?

Would like to know as i like to apply as an Australia citizen

Thank you,

Kind regards,
Anthony

You cannot apply as an Australian. Eligibility is strictly based on country of birth, country of citizenship has no bearing on the eligibility requirement.

Thanks for this - i do understand that eligibility is based on country of birth

The 5th question in the form is the country of birth - this i have put Sri Lanka

The 6th question asks if i am claiming eligbility from the country i was born - can i answer "NO" to this question and then put Australia as the country for the part which asks "If not, which country are you claiming eligibility from?"

If you do that, in case you are selected, you'll be disqualified. Question 6 exist for very specific cases, like claiming your spouse country of birth if the country you were born in is not eligible. Your citizenship is *not* such case.

I understood your question the first time around. The answer is still the same! You cannot answer NO to that question. You cannot claim Australia as your eligibility country on the basis of being an Australian citizen since Australia is not your birth in this case.
