Watching a local news channel there was a note about a proposal to install asylees an electronic device in their bodies in order to be able to monitor their movements worldwide.

Has anybody received any information about this awful proposal?
Is really scary.

Thanks

I am not sure if they are making fun of the situation because they like to do so. I think they do so because it prevents them from getting depressed about what the BCIS does to people. Sometimes, reality can be so hurtful the only way you can cope with it is through laughter. God help all immigrants

Is not clear what the procedures are going to be, but is really scary.

BTW, You don't need to drink beer or rum to hear the news, even if you're in MIAMI.

Monitors for asylum seekers angering activists

Immigrant rights advocates have expressed concerns about plans by federal immigration authorities to outfit some foreign asylum seekers with ankle-bracelet monitoring devices.

Cheryl Little, executive director of the Miami-based Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center, and the Catholic Legal Immigration Network Inc. (CLINIC) in Washington, D.C., said assigning ankle bracelets to asylum seekers stigmatizes them as ''criminals'' -- even though they have not committed crimes.

The program, known as Electronic Monitoring Devices, or EMD, was announced by the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in August. The bureau, part of the Department of Homeland Security, did not specify which foreign nationals would be eligible for bracelets, but Little told The Herald that some asylum seekers were being given the devices.

Federal immigration officials in Miami said Sunday that they were looking into the matter.

''CLINIC takes issue with the fact that the EMD program is merely incarcerating people who have not committed a crime and should be free,'' a statement from the organization said.

Donald Kerwin, CLINIC executive director, said: ``There is no reason to treat an asylum seeker escaping oppression as a criminal. The EMD program places undue restrictions on people who pose no threat to the community.''

In its announcement, the bureau said South Florida would be a test ground for the program. Officials said the program would allow about 100 people deemed ''low risk'' to wear the devices.

About 60 people have taken part in similar programs in Anchorage and Detroit, officials said.

WOW.

But again, they will be very selective about this program. Probably only certain asylees will get this (if it ever passes).

Although many of us are confused and frightened by the idea of these detectors, with further research about these devises we can better understand for what they are really intended. I found an article that I think will better explain the purpose of the detectors. What I gathered from the article was that they will be used for immigrants who are awaiting deportation and for whom there is not enough space in prisons. The detectors are simply a cheaper alternative to prison.

They are talking about asylum applicants, NOT asylees.

However guys, it would be cool to have one of those. Don't you agree :D After that, finally we can say that we live in digital age ...

Anyway, maybe it is a good thing. Instead of being in the prison for the duration of asylum application, asylees can be with their families. Just an observation ...

HI,
Well if is necessary I will carry chains digital bracelet, I will call every day if i need, just not to deal with ,, INS or BCI's or B....S.... ore deal with attorney's
End let me tell you there are many of them that don't speak good English and forget about spelling, and very shore most of them did not graduate from high school, all they had to do to take English course 3 month and olle there you can work.I know 2 girls and one guy that work in Federal Plaza in NY, NY and oh so sed there IQ is 65 .. maybe funny but.. well I am not talking about officers in INS .. I calculated, even if IJ approve asylum for me ...if motion to reopen granted .. it will take me 16 y's or more to become citizen by then I will be 62.
And yes there are many that waeting to be deported even after 32 y's 40y's with green card .Well USA gav is trying to remove (deport) as many as is posible,:(

Holy moly I hope I can at least take a shower in one of those bracelets! Well but to put the jokes aside for a second lets really analyse this first paragraph:

"Immigrant rights advocates have expressed concerns about plans by federal immigration authorities to outfit some foreign asylum seekers with ankle-bracelet monitoring devices."

First this was kind of taken out of the context and a broader picture in the first place. The article talks about ASYLUM SEEKERS not ASYLEES, I did some research and found out that this program was proposed for the asylum seekers who have entered the country by the means of forged documents, got cought and were imprisoned for that reason. So it was actually some funky human rights activists who proposed the idea of a bracelet to the government so that the asylum seekers do not have to wait in prison until the outcome of their case (since a lot of times the asylum seekers enter the country in the ilegal ways anyway).

So relax folks, we are in good shape here, just don't forge any documents and you'll be fine. And even if you do get one of those devices just let me know, I know a person who can remove it and put it on your dog! :D

Rubber bracelets

The goal of Bracelets is to be a meeting place for serious business people. As a buyer, you have a not bracelets a you need done that will help you. The sellers on this site are here because they too are trying to make a decent living. They’re willing to provide the services that buyers need, and all they ask in return is to be paid a fair amount for their time and skills.
