Effect of Divorce on GC Status

I shall be highly obliged for an answer to my agonizing situation. My wife came to U.S. in 2001 and I joined her in June 2007. Her I-140 is approved and our I-485 was filed for adjustment of status in 2007. I am working on EAD valid up to Sept, 2014. My wife has separated from me and eventually she plans to file for a divorce. In case such she does so and a divorce is granted by a Court of law, do I stand to loose my legal status having come so far in the GC process ? Could there be any grounds for appeal to prevent loss of legal status ?

How far you've come in the process means squat to the USCIS so far as your adjustment of status is not approved prior to the divorce. You will be put in deportation proceedings if/when she divorces you before approval.

Actually I believe once she files for divorce, and even before the divorce is approved, you will need to notify USCIS because if they approve you without knowing your wife had filed for divorce, your green card can be subsequently revoked as you come to their notice sometime in your immigration journey because you were separated at the time of approval.

If at all possible, reconcile with your wife, and not just because of the green card. The grass usually looks greener from the other side.

Cheers.
