education certificates fro dv2010 interview

Hi all,
I have been pre-selected for the dv2010 and now waiting for the 2nd pack (interview anticipated for Dec as per my case number SA00000XXX).

I am from South America but currently living in the UK therefore the interview should take place in London. I am translating all my education certificates to English but wonder if I have to translate my wife’s education certificates too. Would they ask to see her education documents or would the interview be focus in my paperwork only as I am the dv winner.

There's no need to translate the certificates of your wife, since you are the principal applicant herein, however you must make sure to procure for her the police certficates of all the countries she has lived after attaining the age of 16. Good luck and may the good Lord be with you.
 
If I'm correct it isn't you who has to do the translation but an official translator..any one can claim that the papers are saying what the person wants them to say...

That is true, but why should this anyone make a fraud? To be banned for the rest of his life? It is perfectly all right to make your own translation, just don't forget to certify and sign it by claiming that you are proficient in both languages, and it is a true translation of the document.

Wow...you copied and pasted my answer and added things I never stated...about banned for life, wow that is judging fast!

I just stated that on the NL papers it is stated that an official translator has to translate the papers....if you claim to be "proficient in both languages" they will check that during the interview but it won't be sure they take your word for a translation even in you are fluent in a language, after all the person winning the DV, has an interest of showing that things are in his favor, that is why an official translator is requested.
It could be accepted or denied and a request to have it translated by an official translator which can delay your case....denial..I don't know about that, maybe if they don't believe you at all....

I probably did not explain myself properly. I am not intending to do any translation myself, actually, I came up with this question after receiving the quote for the official translator for wife and my documents. Being my wife even with higher degree of education than me (Univ degrees + Master) the quote for the certificate and transcripts translation of both was excessively high.

I was therefore ensuring that my wife education certs are no longer required and will concentrate on get mine translated regardless what they cost.

Any thoughts are always welcome

I did not add anything to your words, bentlebee, your quote appears in the box automatically. Banning for life is my words, which is a common stock of knowledge. People who are believed by USCIS to lie or produce fraudulent paperwork are usually banned from entering the US for a lifetime.

In the general tips for assembling applications USCIS states that "the translator must certify that s/he is competent to translate and that the translation is accurate." It can be, but it does not have to be an official translator. This issue was discussed many times at this forum. Finally, I translated and certified everything for me and my family, and it worked fine for us.
 
Has anyone receive 2 NL yet. My brother holds a german citizenship and lives in United Kingdom, he has also been a frequent visitor to the US, now my question is can he stand as a sponsor to me since his account proves he has sufficient funds to fulfill this claims, anyone with an idea about this.

No, I don't think anyone has received his 2nd NL. I'm sure those who will be current in October would start receiving their 2nd NL's this coming weeks.Now with the sponsor issue, The DV2010 instructions states specifically that the sponsor should be a citizen or Legal Permanent Resident residing in the United states.
 
Am new to this forum. I wrote the WAEC in 2003 then in a public secondary school. I wrote it again in 2004 as a private student. In 2003 i performed badly with just 3 credits. In 2004 I passed all the subjects with 8 credits. Do i have to submit both results when going for the interview or do I have to submit the current one which I wrote in 2004.

If you have 5 credits including English and Maths from the 2004 exams, then that is enough for the interview.
