Good point. I think not. That is, once I asked a similar question to my lawyer, he said that all the processing is done in Vermont, unless your case gets transferred to a local office. In this case the district office would matter. I also understand that transfers to local offices are fairly rare. Does it make any sense ?

Stamping done at San Jose

Our stamping also happened smoothly at San Jose today. We had 11.00 am appt, arrived at 10.40 along with our baby, and were admitted at 10.45. The security screening guys were a bit rude, and hurried us thru.

Once in we waited for about 30 minutes for our number to be called. The immigration officer merely took our courtsey I-485 approval notice (he preferred to take that rather than original, because courtsey notice had our address, original had lawyer's address), passport, photos, old EADs and APs.

He then proceeded to put EADs and photos for each of us into separate little plastic ziplock backs, and stapled bags onto APs and courtsey notice. He then made us sign a form twice each and give 2 index finger prints. Finally he stamped I-551 stamp onto passport, removed our I-94 cards, and told us that the stamp is valid for 1 year and that our plastic cards should arrive in the mail within 3-6 months.

We and baby were out of these by 11.45, and went to celebrate by having lunch at local restaurant and shopping (both of us had taken the day off from work to get stamping done).

There were lots of LUD changes after 2nd finger prints. The latest one was on Nov. 22 for my wife.

I'm still around, no news. I check the tracker almost daily. Just seeing that other people get approved is somewhat reassuring. USCIS #$%?&!!! I share the frustration rpb8260!!

Question about InfoPass

A quick question for anyone who has used InfoPass to get appt...

Do I need to make separate appts. for my wife and me or is 1 appt. enough for both of us? The InfoPass site does not let me know more than 1 appt. in a given period of time.

Hi Amit

I read threads (in the general 485 forum) of people in similar situations. Apparently, what they do is to set up two appointments, same day, half an hour to 1 hour distant to each other. Then they show up together, at the time of the first appt, and get the stamping done together.

The samping stage is very relaxed

Today I made a telephone status inquiry to USCIS in addition to the written inquiries submitted by my attorney. I was told to expect some response within the next 30 days..... here's hoping for a Happy New Year!!

LUD after stamping

Hey all

We went for stamping a few days ago, now our LUDs were updated today ... who knows ! I guess it doesn't mean much, the cards should probably take at least a month. We'll see ...

And now one more LUD change, Dec 2, bor both ours cases (like yesterday) ... would that be it ? Anyone knows if they change the online message when they mail the cards ?

Yesterday I just (for fun)called national customer service center to find out about my plastic card as there is no LUD after the approval. In the automated message I have been told that 30 days after the stamping if you don't receive the welcome notice or 60 after stamping if you don't receive a plastic card give us a call. Moreover, I recall reading somewhere in forum that after I-485 approval every one receives kind of a notice greeting your approval or welcoming notice from USCIS.
