2nd FP notice dated June 28th, 2004
Hi,
I got a notice for a second FP with a notice date of June 28, 2004. This is 19 days after the approval of my I-140. I was told that FP are good for 15 months. I was on my 18th month as of july 2nd.
My appointment for second FP is august 3, 2004. Do you guys think that I can get them done sooner and before this scheduled date? I think someone had them done sooner that the scheduled date. If any of you has had that experience, please let me know. I could go on Tuesday for all I know!

Hi! All: Please help me to understand these questions. My university filed my I-140 under EB1-OR and I filed my I-485 by myself. My I-140 has been approved and my I-485 is in pending. Do I still need anything from my university for my I-485? What's the difference between our OR-based I-485 and other I-485s? Thanks for your answers in advance. IC

I received a notice telling me about the date of the second FP. The notice arrived on Friday at home (it was dated Juin 28). No email was sent to me. My on-line status has not changed yet. The last time I did this, it took 5 days for them to aknowledge reception of the fingerprints. I will keep an eye on it and will let you.
I woke up early this morning and just went. i was in at 8am and out by 8:45 am (in boston). Nobody asked me why I showed up a month early. Everyone was very courteous and helpful.
I think that if my FPs were up-to-date, I would have gotten approval for both, I-140 and I-485, at the same time (look at fatlady's approval date). I am just hoping that i am still in the "just in" shelf before i be left behind.

As far as I understand, the I485 is tied to the I140, and in this sense, in principle you would need to keep working for your university until the 485 gets approved. BUT, there is the AC21, the Portability Regultation (or whatever it is called). Essentially, it states that 6 months after you apply for 485, you can change employer, if it is whithin the same field from where you applied for I140.
Many lawyers, now that there is this concurrent procedure (I140/I485), prefer that you first get your I140 approved before using AC21, just in case there is an RFE on your I140.
That's all I know. Maybe someone has some more info ...
