I am ready to file my EAD at local Philadelphia INS office. I-485 pending in VSC. What documents do I need to apply for EAD ?

Thanks

I think you should file to the same INS center (VSC) where your I-485 is pending.

The documents required:
1. Receipt of I-485
2. Photocopy of of previous EAD - both sides (if it's renewal)
3. I-797D (the top part of paper on which EAD card was
was attached. Again, in case of renewal only).
4. DOB certificate
5. Marriage certificate (for derivative only)
6. photocopy of I-94 (both sides)

DOB certificate is not required, (copy of your OLD EAD has you’re A # and DOB)
Also send the I-140 copy, they have started asking for it from many
Fill up the form and pay the fees+ 2 photographs
All above info by “parlay” is correct
You should download the form and read the instructions
send your application to VSC

I think it's harmless to provide DOB certificate. My wife got her EAD renewal without it. But in this forum I saw couple of guys who got RFE for DOB certificate. There is no logic behind it (because they already have DOB record in their database). It totally depends on the person who is reviewing the application. And one RFE means atleast one month processing delay.

See this thread:

and some old threads too.

But why VSC ?

Thanks for all your help. I am confused as to why I have to file in VSC. I read so many web sites and they say you can file at your local office (Philadelphia in my case). Even the INS web site tells you that you can file locally. Is there a reason to that ?

Thanks again.

You have to send your EAD application to service center VSC because your case is employment based
Local offices only accept family based cases.

You can only get interim EAD from Local Office if you sent an application to service center and 90 days have passed.
Give us a site link where you read that you can file for EAD in local office if it is Employment I-485 pending and you can apply to local INS. It will help others.
