Hello,

Does anyone know: if there is any restrictions as to how far ahead can one apply for EAD renewal? Does it need to applied only 90 days ahead of expiration?
 
Apparently, USCIS mailed me my 2nd EAD (Sent for renewal) as replacement EAD card. I had applied 6 months for renewal for couple of reasons:

I wanted to have the EAD card in my hand before I close and move into new house. Not worry about change of address at time of receiving the card in mail.

secondly, the fees were increasing.

But now I have received a replacement card and I am being told that since I have applied so early, that they assumed that it was for replacement. I should have applied approximately 90 days before the expiration of my current EAD card.:confused:

I checked I-765 form but could not find any such restrictions. I may have to re-apply all over again.

please advise.
