Guys, just a thought want to share....
Since , now Asylees are entitled to Unrestricted SS card , i don't understand the reason to renew EAD every year. One reason we needed EAD , was to prove our work Authorization status. But , legally companies HR's accepts or rather prefers unrestricted SS card and one valid ID like Drivers licence as supporting documents at the time of hiring.

Do you think still it is a good idea to spend what $110 to renew EAD every year ???

Asylee13, i been through a lot when it gets to EAD and unrestricted SS. just browse thgrough my posts. I almost lost a career job because of this. just last week i received my unrestricted SS and was very relieved when i saw it. now i will not ever renew my EAD, ever again.

good luck.

It depends on your company. Some companies have bureacrats who do not follow up with new immigration rules and may give you hard time if you do not give them an immigration document that allows you to work. One good thing about the EAD is that it is a form of a picture id from the US government especially for those who do not have RTD. so again, choosing to have a new EAD depends on your employment situation

I approached my Human Resources Manager and informed her that an EAD is no longer required. I gave her a copy of what UCIS said on their website in regards to this and a copy of my asylum approval letter to prove my status. She reviewed them and said it was fine. I've stopped renewing my EAD since.

Do not waste your money!

Why are u guys making things harder than what they are? Just present your unrestricted SSC and a state issued ID or DL, and that's it. You can even show them your asylum approval letter alone and that should suffice. The burden is on HR to find out if your document is acceptable or not. Otherwise they will be legally liable and you can sue the heck out of them.

Let me ask you this: if you have a green card, would you still get an EAD?

BOTTOM LINE, DO NOT WASTE YOU MONEY!
