EAD holder wants to use EAD instead of H1.

Friends,

My friend has EAD card. But he wants to work on EAD instead of H1 visa.

He has 2 questions.

1. Can we still get a interim EAD after 90 days of filling(in case of renewal) ?

2. if interim EAD is not available what will be the substitute for that?
Temporarily suspended 'pay stub generation' will be fine?
