EAD , H4, Social Security Number -- Please Help

Hello Everyone,

My wife (dependent) and I (primary) have our I-485 pending. We are currently on H1/H4. Applied for EAD for wife which was recently approved.

Wife does not intend to begin working for a while, since she is studying.

Can we apply for social security number for her with the EAD, though she is not working currently?

If we apply for Social Security Number, does it mean that she has used EAD and she will lose H4 status?

Anyone in a similar situation? Please advise of your experience.

---YES, go to SSA office fill up the form, show passport, EAD
If we apply for Social Security Number, does it mean that she has used EAD and she will lose H4 status?
-------NO, she will invalidate her H4 status only if works with EAD, having EAD or SSN will not invalidate her H4 status
Anyone in a similar situation? Please advise of your experience.

H4 using the EAD while AOS is pending

Hi Ginnu and gurus,

Just wondering when I am not using EAD but still on H1Bstatus, if my wife ( dependent)on h4 uses her EAD, does my H1 status gets cancelled? or just her H4 status? while both AOS applications are pending .
