EAD --> H1b --> EAD

Hi, I tried to look for answer to this question in the boards but couldnt find. If someone has info about this please shed some light, also if a link to USCIS website is available regarding the guidelines, that will be helpful as well.

If someone looses h1b job, but has EAD from NIW (national interest waiver physician) available. the NIW EAD has not been used previously and the person has maintained H1b status along.

in that case if the H1b job disappears, what happens to the legal status of the person. does he/she automatically go on EAD. what if there is a time gap in finding a new job. what will be the person's legal status. EAD? can one be looking for a job on EAD and still be in status?

If one gets a new job on EAD and a few months down the road if one finds a job on H1b, can he/she go back to H1b status or visa?

I have heard that if one gets a new H1b job even if there is a gap of a few months between the last H1b job and the new H1b job ( while working on EAD in the intervening time period), one can revert to the H1b status by going outside the country and getting a stamp on passport for H1b.

In other words my question is that is it possible to use EAD just for the short term and later revert to h1b status should the opportunity present itself.

All I have learned from this board is that once you use your EAD, you can't go back to H1B anymore.

I may be wrong.
 
So are you saying that it is possible to go back to H1b from EAD? by going to a different country to get the H1b visa stamped.

is there a certain duration that one has to stay out of the US to get back to H1b status/visa. or can one go to canada, get the visa stamped and come back in a couple of days.

is there any link to a USCIS website about such information.

If you can get the appointment scheduled right, you can leave the US, get the stamp and return the same day.
