EAD Fees Confusion

'If you filed a Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, on July 30, 2007, or after, then no fee is required to file a request for employment authorization on Form I-765. You may file the I-765 concurrently with your I-485, or you may submit the I-765 at a later date. If you file Form I-765 separately, you must also submit a copy of your Form I-797C, Notice of Action, receipt as evidence of the filing of an I-485'

Does that mean that I dont have to pay $340? I have already got EAD once for my wife (done through my company lawyer) and now I am planning to file the renewal on my own

Those who file I485 with >$1000 will file EAD/AP free all others should pay $340 fees for EAD. Check your I485 receipt to see if you pay $395 (which I think your case) then you should pay every time you renew your EAD/AP.

E-Filing EAD/AP renewal if filed I-485 with $1010 fee

Hi All,

I and my wife filed our I-485 in Nov 2007 and paid the $1010 fee. Now it is time to renew the EAD and AP for my wife (I am on L-1) and our company lawyer told us that we were exempt from the renewal fees, however when I try to e-File these forms, it provides no option to not pay the fees. Does anyone know what the right way is to go about this. Should I just paper-file and include a cover letter explaining why I believe I am exempted from paying the fees?

I have same question again ,
If we have paid the old fees with 485 in Aug 2007 and after ( Oct 2008) one year we paid new fees ( $340) for EAD to get renewed. then what happen if wa have to renew next time also. Do we have to pay the fees again ?

Yes you have to pay for ever unless new regulations issued. Those who paied the old fee ($495) or less will keep paying even if they exceed the $1010 till their I485 approved.
