EAD basic rules

Here is my situation.

Currently Working for Company B on H1 extensions
My GC is in Process through Company A ( my previous employer)
I-140 approval expected anytime.
PD is AUG 2004 (with current movement in dates, I expect this to move fast)
what happens after I -140 is approved.
Can I file 485 without joining Company A?
If yes, after I get EAD, can I join any company ( other than Caompany A)?
or have to join only Company A?

What are my other options?

---------------- you can join any company with EAD or H1 Transfer, BUT if the company A revoke the I-140 Before I-485 pending more than I-485 filing reciept date then be ready to start the GC process from Scratch and EAD will be invalid as I-485 may be denied

or have to join only Company A?
-----------you can join A before I-485 approval or I-485 approval. if I-140 gets approved and I-485 is pending more than 180 days then you can join any company and can invoke AC21. Better remain on H1 status (it is in your intrest)
What are my other options?

Hi Ginnu,

Thanks for your response, Company A who is sponsoring the GC are extremely nice people and no issues wth them whatsoever.
I am not with them and they are continuing my GC process. So even I would not do anything wrong to hurt them.
I just want to clear myself on the legal implications.
my I-140 receipt date is Sep 26 2006, and currently at nebraska last update shows they have processed upto Sept 25th 2006. so expecting some information on my case anytime.

You need to check the priority date. It is different from processing dates which you are looking into.

Hi, thx for the response,
I understand the PD dates (Visa number and applying for 485 becoming current ) which is currently at April 04 for EB2
and my I-140 receipt date is Sept 2006. which I am expecting it to come out soon. so I was contemplting all options. Hope the PD also moves faster and my PD becomes current.
hmmmm I do not know how long I/we have to wait ......
