EAD Approved, but Card not received,

My wife EAD was approved on 24th November and my lawyer received the approval notice but we have not received the EAD card yet, I tried to call INS but my calls are not going through yet, I have a few question,
1. How long does it takes to get the EAD card ?
2. Can she go to SSN office and applied for her SSN number with the fax copy of the approval notice sent to lawyer ?
3. Can she start working with the approval letter ?

1. depends on service center. EADs have been lost in transit too. (Did you hear about the mailman in rutherford , NJ who put all the mail he was supposed to deliver in storage!)

2. It does not hurts to try, since trying for a SSN is not a crime. They are going to verify with INS anyway. So sooner the better.

3. You have to think of other WhatIf situations. What if the EAD was lost and you have to apply for another EAD or interim EAD? Most probably those EADs will have a future start date. How are you going to explian this to the employer? Becos, the employer can also be prosecuted for employing somebody who (technically) was not authorized to work in the US.
I do not want to scare you but am quoting the worst case scenario. If you weigh these possibilities and come to a conclusion , it is your decision.

Hi,
i guess its because of mail problem.
my EAD/AP got approved on 18th Dec. and i received my EAD on 21st Dec. still waiting for my AP.
EAD comes in normal mail. dont know about AP.
what is your rd/nd and do you know how much it will take for FP
