EAD & AP renewal help!!!

I am I-485 pending on NIW. Need to renew EAD and AP for both me and my wife. My GC lawyer offers to prepare the documents for 300$ each person. My questions are:

1. Is it worth to let lawyer to do this?

2. If I prepare the documents by myself, what is the exact procedures, documents? Can anyoe please give me some details?

Thanks very much for the help. I am not at all familar with this, so any info will be greatly appreciated. :confused:

First off EAD is renewal, AP is not.

No need Lawyer. Waste of money. You can do yourself EAD and AP Renewal. I did myself and my wife EAD and AP renewal.

If you have Acrobat Wirter or you can download free trail from the web then you can fill out (you got previous info when you submit I485,765,131). Just only we have add A# and change the option.

Note: This is only my exp.

$600 just for lawyer fee, besides filing fee for each of you for both EAD and AP ($230+$230). Why you want to pay to lawyer. It is so simple to file self and faster than filing through lawyer.

If you have more money, then it's your wish. Even then give that extra money to some charity. You will get atleast some God's blessing.
 
Can someone tell me the specific steps to renew
EAD and AP? I did not find it in FAQ for EAD section.
I appreciate it very much in advance. My lawyer asked
for $300.
 
FOR EAD:
1 fill up the form I-765 and sign
2 attach the USCIS fees check for $120
3 attach copy your I-485 filing receipt
4Photographs 2
5 If you have I-140 approved attach the copy of it (optional)
6 If filing for dependent spouse attach marriage certificate and her I-485 receipt
7 If it is EAD renewal then attach the copy of past EAD (both the side) and the top portion that you got from BCIS when recieved first EAD
*** Write in the cover letter in bold FORM I-765 for Employment authorization Document (EAD) and write the document copies attached in order. Top of the cover letter write your Name, Pending I-485 # and your A # , DOB, and your present address. If your service center is NSC then also send the color copy of your driving license and first page pf your Passport that has your photo, DOB, PP # date of issue

Out side the envelope write in bold “FORM I-765 for Employment authorization Document (EAD) and mail it to service center

FOR AP:
Fill up the form I-131, fees $110 and all the above documents and same type of cover letter just change FORM I-31 for Advance Parole and out side the envelope also write the same form I-131 for advance parole

About photos, do I need to take new photos or can I use the same photo that I submitted last year? In other words, is there a strict requirement to use current (within 6 months) photos?

What is the "Class of Admission" on the Advance Parole form (I-131)? Anybody please give some hints? I do not know how to fill that blank out.

Please use new photos as ginnu has suggested.

Unfortunately in my case(NSC), they sent out an RFE, saying they need new pictures (since I sent the same ones I used for my 1st EAD).

I already took the picture last weekend. Will use the new photos. Now I am filling out the forms and do not know what is "Class of Admission". Is that my visa status? I came here with F1 but now I am on Adjust of Status pending. How should I fill that blank?

** if any confusion you can write in the cower letter that your I-485 is pending and you dont understand the class of admission on form and write your situation

Does my wife use the same wording? She's a derivative applicant on me. We are applying together. Thanks a lot.

She should write "AOS pending derivative EB based"


It is better to explain on cover letter attach separate cover letter for your AP and separate for her AP, it makes easier for the officer to know if you miss any column or write wrong info. Because many are not clear actually what they want to be written as class of admission you can also write on the cover letter that you entered on H1b status last time to US and your wife entered on H4 visa to US. You should sign your cover letter and your spouse should sign her cover letter with address

'Class of Admission' is the manner of your last entry in to US, if you used H1B, when you last entered then it is 'H1B', if you used AP, then it is 'Parolee'.
