Folks,
Here is a scenario.

Filing I-140, I-485, EAD, AP through my company lawyer with G-28s.
My question is when the EAD/AP needs to be renewed, Do I still have to go through the lawyer or can I send the renewals by myself? (Laywer fees are HUGE)

Do it yourself. No brain is needed to fill out and submit these applications - just read the instructions on USCIS web site, and follow them literally. I worked with lawyer on LC and I-140, but after that I did all my applications myself (I-485, EADs, APs) and got all of them approved. If I-485 is somewhat complicated, the EAD and AP are very easy - you'd be sorry to spend any additional money on them...

My question is when the EAD/AP needs to be renewed,
----file EAD renewal 5-6 months advance of EAD expiring date and file for new AP also 5-6 months advance of AP expiry, EAD is renewed and AP is always new
Do I still have to go through the lawyer or can I send the renewals by myself?
---You can do it, or file directly

If your GC application is sponsored by your company, should nto they pay for the renewal as well? If yes, why bother filing yourself?

Any issues with this reasoning, gurus?

Employer is suppose to pay for only LC/140; they are not liable for I-485, EAD or AP.

If you have to pay for it, then save some money and do it yourself. It is a straightforward procedure. The form is very simple. You can even do it online and pay with your Credit Card. There are a lot of info about it on the forum. Ask questions if you have any.

Who pays for application and/or legal fees is entirely between you and your employer. They can pay for everything, or nothing. Mine paid around $1500 of the $5000 I spent in this area; I prefer to pay everything myself as it clearly define's in the attorney's mind who the real client is. :)

If your employer is willing to pay for the EAD/AP, and you are at good relations with him/her then have your employer pay for it

Folks,

I am paying for the EAD/AP because I want my company to do my 7th H1B year extension and pay for it. My company will either do EAD/AP or 7th year H1B extension.
I want to keep EAD/AP just a standby and want to use H1B till end.

----- better let them file 7th year H1extension, H1 status has advantages
