DV2022 middle name mistake

Youri

New Member
Hello,

I have a problem, which concerns my passport. I played and won with my passport in the name of Youri François Eddy for the DV2022. However, on my birth certificate it says Youri Francis Eddy, not François.
I thought it was normal, but I asked the city hall of my city where I live, and they indeed certified me that it is a mistake. They can't give me a certificate saying that it's a mistake and that the only way is to have the passport made again.

Knowing that I played and won the lottery 2022 in the name of Youri François Eddy, that all documents such as the ds260, the selection winner message, everything is in the name of François and not Francis. I have sent all the documents to KCC for a long time.

But as far as I am concerned, I was honest and played according to my passport information. The mistake was not mine.

I have no idea what to do, if I have to redo a passport and change the middle name or I leave it like that and explain that it is a mistake but not mine ? What is the solution to avoid that my case is refused at the embassy?

Thank you

This does not seem to be a big issue IMO, I don’t see a need for a new passport. Did you list “Francis” in the Other Name section of your DS260 form though?

You should have considering you must have noticed this when you were filing out the DS260 form or when you sent in your documents. Anyway, you can unlock the form and update it or have you been scheduled for your interview already? You did not provide pertinent information such as your CN that could help us better understand your situation

Unfortunately I was not able to notify it, because at the time I was told that this was normal, but it is not.
I have no interview at the embassy and my case number is 20***.

I also understood that it takes quite a long time to unlock the ds260 for modification, and that my case would go back to the bottom of the list to get an interview at the embassy. Which is risky.

20*** means nothing without the region being disclosed.
Would you rather be delayed or be denied - which is more risky? Your answer to this question (which you obviously don't have to provide on this board) should help you decide if unlocking your form to update and ensure the information on it is accurate on not.

Sorry i'm in France, i'm french with à case number 20***.
Of course I prefer being delayed than denied for sûre.

Does this mean you CN is EU20***? That is what I mean by the region, not your country or where you're from. Anyway if it is EU20***, it is not yet current which means you still have enough time make the necessary update on your form.

Thank you for your response.

I got the answer from the KCC. My case being now current, the KCC told me that they cannot reopen my file and to see directly with the embassy. This means that I can't change my DS260 anymore and also the city hall where I'm going to renew my passport doesn't want me to keep the old passport. I am really lost.
