Congratulations to all the winners from Nepal.

Lets use this thread to discuss some useful things for all the Nepalese winners.

Well, I will start with the following:

What are the required academic documents?
AS far as I know, you need at least +2 degree.
I have seen some people talking about high school diploma. But I believe most of us only have +2 character certificate from school and Transcript.
What is the diploma thing? Isn't charter certificate and Transcript sufficient???

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

I guess it is really sufficient in Nepal's case! some other countries have different diploma,
By the way what is your case number??

+2 in Nepal is considered equivalent to High school diploma in US, so if you have it then you are qualified.

One more question, whose name do I put as petitioner for my wife and children? Should it be mine (DV winner) or their own??

As the DV winner, you're the Petitioner for yourself and your derivatives (wife and children).

My case no is 8XXX.
What is the highest case no seen in Nepal?
I have +2 Transcript and Character Certificate.
I also have Bachelor's Transcript but not character certificate.

Thanks baku,

so in your interview you just showed +2 Transcript and Character Certificate? Is that the same if I am applying here in US(AOS not CP)?

Birth Certificate
Hi All,
How to make birth certificate in Nepal. I was not born in Hospital so I was wondering how to make it?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

When I applied my edv form I mentioned in the online form as University degree and I presented my Bachelor degree.

+2 ie high school diploma is the minimum criteria for your eligibility, more info here http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/visa_4756.html

Thank you so muck baku.
you presented tachelors degree means bachelors transcript only or bachelors transcript+ character certificate? The reason I am asking this is I only have transcript with me now. I may have to order character certificate if it us needed.
Thanks

I had transcript, character, migration, provisional all with me so I presented everything I had. Better order for it soon and don't worry as DV 2014 interview will only start from October 2013, so you have plenty time for that.

Birth Certificate
Hi All,
How to make birth certificate in Nepal. I was not born in Hospital so I was wondering how to make it?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I had same situation, however you can go to your Ward office(Woda) and get it done! however they will give you in Nepali that one needs to be translated by either municipality or the officially recognized translator with foreign ministry's attestation!!

Guys Please let us know if you have more ideas.

Thanks :)

Thanks,

you need to go to your own district and go to vdc office if in vdc area and if in city you need to go to your ward office first and fill the forms for your child.
In your case all the process is same but that forms need to be filled by your parents.

Only documents not in English needs to be translated, generally these will be your birth certificate and marriage certificate (if any).

These documents should be translated by authorized translator, in Nepal they are notary public authorized translator attorneys, if you go to Maitighar area at Kathmandu you can find a lot of them there.

btw Municipality don't do translation and you don't need any of your documents to be attested by ministry of foreign affairs for DV purpose.

guys i made a slight mistake while submitting initial dv forms. i forgot to write my father's middle name that time. but right now when filling out the DS-0230 and sending it to kcc i have written his middle name and sent it. does it make any difference or will it affect my chances of getting the second letter. my case number is 2014AS00007***. and when do you think the second will letter come?? thank you

Yes you can, actually in the interview they will ask you whether you want to do your interview in English or in Nepali (In case if you want to do your interview in Kathmandu), in my case I told them English I can and I did it in English, and they asked my wife the same question first and she asked for Nepali and did her interview in Nepali, no problem and now we both have visa.

Age difference in couple should not be a problem, she has +2 and that should be good enough for her to be eligible, your education does not count.
