DV2013 winner: Marriage - Llow CN, delay interview?

Hi,

We were selected for DV2013 with a low case number 2013EU00002XXX.
With the low number my guess is a interview in October.
Is there any way of telling KCC that we would like to wait a few months with the interview, let's say until December with the interview.
(Only reason is it would be nice with a little more time before having to move, I know we have 6 months from the interview, but the additional 2-3 months would be nice to have)

And what should we do about our upcoming marriage in June.
Should we wait with the forms to KCC or send the forms now and tell we will be married soon?

Thanks for any input
Claus

Hi, I also have a question cancerning this topic, my situation is this-
I applied for DV 2013 with my fiance, but only I was selected, my case number is a bit higher 25xxx, now we are going to marry, what do you think is better to keep my maiden surename or take his one after marriage????
Thank you beforehand

To avoid any complications, don't submit the forms now. Wait until after you are done with your marriage. You cannot include your partner on the forms now when you are not married.

If you are not ready to move now, the best option is to delay in sending the forms to kcc.

Yes I would agree with ammeck,

This is a better option. Please document your wedding and the relationship before that very well.

You will for sure be put under great scrutiny during the interview. Including the possibility of separate interviews to determine if the wedding is genuine.

research this forum it has a lot of examples

Hi guys,

I had this problem last year, and here is what I did.

I submitted the initial forms ASAP in September 2011, with a side note stating that my fiance were going to get married in March 2012. If possible could we please postpone an interview until after we were married.

KCC got back to me stating that I should direct all q's to my local consulate, which I did. The Sydney consulate were fantastic, basically saying that they could be flexible with the interview. They also said that when I was married, just resend in the forms again via email along with my wife's forms and then they would give me an interview date asap.

All went according to plans.

My advice, if you are getting married in say a month or so, then I would wait to send in the forms. BUT if you are going to get married in 6 months, then send the forms in now with a side note explaining your situation.

Just be prepared to wait for responses from KCC and consulates, they generally take a week or two to respond. But don't stress too much, they are generally very helpful.

are you gonna do a CP (consular processing) or AOS (adjustment of status: for those who are in the US already)? If you are doing CP, i think you can do either way. But, if I were you, I would get married first and then send the documents with your spouse included. Alternatively, If you must send the docs soon (i mean to meat the date when your CN becomes current), then you can for now send the documents on your name for the time being and then include your spouse just before you go to interview. The latter, however, seems risky in my opinion since you already are sure you will get married. I went through this "marriage before interview" drama going with the second option (I did CP). Everything turned out ok at the end, but I was wayyy toooo worried. I described this in my posts 2 years ago, but they are somehow gone now and the admin seems to have deleted them. Good luck!

Edit: I found my post from 2 years ago. here it is!

Couldnt say more for this guy....be very careful and document the wedding from the date you first met to your wedding day to avoid be scrutinised as a DV marriage. This forum has a lot of weddings after winning Dv and they went through to get the visa.
