We have filed our lawsuit with the US District Court for the District of Columbia. The case is Ilya Smirnov et al. v. Hillary Rodham Clinton et al. There are 36 named plaintiffs from more than 20 countries. Government defendants include the Department of State, USCIS and senior government officials, including Mr. Donahue. The lawsuit is styled as a class action, meaning, if the court approves the request to certify, it will go forward as a class action, with the 22,000 victims making up the class.

What are the chances of DOS suspending the results on July 15 because of the lawsuit? Thanks

You do know your chances of winning the case are just about non existent. There are other visa's where people invest huge sums of money (6 figures) and have no route to a green card in a lifetime. Law suits and protests have been going on for a years about them visa's and still nothing has been done about it. Now compare 22k to millions of investor families, think about it... Do you people stand a chance? What difference do you have compared to millions of people who are investing huge sums of money each year and giving jobs to American Citizens compared to 22k Immigrants where all they most likely have is a high school diploma...

You can most likely say good bye to DV lottery in the near future because of what has happened.

the DV lottery won't go anywhere... thats is just a whishfull thinking from anti immigrant... the lawsuit will go nowhere niether, in most case, it would hurt the 2012 edition but won't cancel it... & lowsuit last long, nothing will be complete in 25 days... me wait july 15

@FoxyGirl get life fat girl

Thanks for that but I'm pretty healthy and slim for my age. But anyway I was just stating my honest opinion. Sure the DV lottery might not be gone next year just instantly, but I don't think the DV lottery has much more years long to stay active due to the snowball effect of it. That's just my opinion anyway.

You would think that but it's not all true. The US government are trying to think of other ways to abolish the DV lottery and to introduce new work visa's for potential educated immigrants around the world. Mostly giving the 50k visa's annually to people studying in America down the medicine or scientist route was one option but it's still a idea in progress. But the DV lottery will be still around for a few more years until then that is.

nope, some republican want to do that to please the electors... orthewise they would have done that long time ago... the goverment also know that most applicant's diploma ain't even reconized in the united state that's why they are asking only high school diploma thus giving them the opportunity to go to university in USA... If they realy wanted to abolish the lottery, they would have done so looooooong time ago dating from 9/11...

You can still go to University in the United States regardless which country you come from, you just need strong grades since competition for international students is very tough... The idea was to give 50k visa's to immigrants who went to college in the United States and have graduated in a science of medicine degree. Still a good idea in progress though, not a bad idea also.

some republican who so some electors who just hates immigrant.. believe me, they won't abolish the lottery... there are too many thing that goes on that u do not seem to know that if they were known by the mass... that kind of thing that if u know it, u know the DV is safe... believe me

Great reply. I totally agree with you. Their names are now in the system and there was just an article last week about the length of time of lawsuits for immigrations laws and how many years it takes...

The lawyer doesn't care, they want the publicity which they get.

Marco Rubio is a Rep. and his parents came from Cuba. He is not in favor of illegals becoming citizens...

What if some of the 22k don't want (or see no need) to be part of the class action. How would they identify them?

First of all the ex-22k winners and Mr white needs to understand that DOS also have there own rules and laws abidin DV programs.The lottery is an administrative thin run by DOS which the lottery is a free thin and nobody applicants was asked to pay anythin.To me i think the issue of donatin money to Mr white thru paypal might just be a scam cos it might be that Mr white knows that he cannot win the lawsuit in court.The ex-22k and Mr white needs to knw that they cant get there GC thru lawsuit cos have never seen that in DV history.

As of the issue of REPUBLICAN they always want to scrap DV program 4 long cos they dnt like immigrant like that especially immigrants comin thru DV.But one thin again, that US government makes millions of dollar thru DV program every year.So it might still take a while b4 DV ll be scrap but not with Mr white and ex-22k can makes the US government scrap away DV.

This is silly. Wearn't the 22k only selected for the next stage? Not actually *guaranteed* a green card.
