DV Interview – Job Offer Requirements

Hey everyone,

I’m getting ready for my DV interview and I’m planning to use a job offer as part of my supporting documents. My father owns the business (currently a one man show). I intend on using a job offer in order to prove that we will not become a public charge.

Does anyone know what the consulate looks for in a job offer? I’ve heard it should:
  • Be on official company letterhead
  • Include employer details, position, start date, and salary
  • Come from a real U.S. business
Do they also ask for proof that the company can pay the salary or any extra verification?

Would love to hear from anyone who’s been through this or has tips!

Thanks in advance

Why don’t you just get your father to sign an I134 (assuming he is a USC or LPR)? That would probably be easier from the consulate perspective. Or do both. The vast majority of DV applicants don’t have jobs lined up so it’s hard to say what they would look for. Generally applicants with a decent work history don’t face any problems public charge wise.

Thank you @SusieQQQ

He is a USC (US Citizen?). I have only had 4 employers over the last 15 years with no gaps in employment (Thanks to God), so hopefully that counts strongly in our favour. I will ask my dad to file the I134, hopefully its processed in time.

Just for clarification, please extract from the instructions for the I134 form.

On the instructions, I read that I134 is for B, F or M nonimmigrant visas.

Should I not request to file I864

Thanks in advance for the advice

Paging @Sm1smom @Britsimon have the rules changed about which affidavit of support is applicable to DV?
Possibly.

There is an unverified copy of a cable (attached) sent by Rubio that seems to suggest they will stop the acceptance of the I-134, and will revert instead to the total circumstances. We haven't seen any official confirmation or change in the rules as of now, BUT that could happen in this wacky world we live in now.

Thanks for the advice.

Another question I have is whether I only need an I-134 for myself or whether each derivative applicant also requires their own I-134
