DV 2026 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

Hello, for those who requests KCC to unlock DS260 for change of address, in which case does that need to happen ? change of address for green card delivery or change of address if you move out from the states or physical address
Unlocking the DS260 form for the sake of reflecting a change of address is a complete waste of time if processing AOS. It is unnecessary.

Hi Mom,
I have two unrelated questions.

1. In Part 2, section 3.g of the I-485 form, it asks for the DV Rank Number. In the sample report, only the region and the number are shown, without the year. Should we leave out the year when entering the number or should we write it exactly as it appears on our 1NL?
2. There are some questions in Part 9 (the Yes/No questions) that say if you answered “Yes” to the previous question, answer the next one with Yes or No. Since I answered “No” to the previous question, I left the following ones blank. However, in the sample report, all of those are marked as “No.” What would you recommend I do?

Thank you!!

1. Either way is fine.
2. What you did is acceptable.

Hi @Sm1smom,

Hope you are doing great.

I have several questions regarding my Form I-485.

My household is 4 people, I am currently in F-1 status, and my dependents are in F-2 status.
In Part 9 of the form, I provided the following information:
  • Question 58 (Household Income): $0–27,000
  • Question 59 (Household Assets): $0–18,400
  • Question 60 (Household Liabilities): $1–10,100
The reported assets do not include my personal savings and other assets outside US.

In addition, I am submitting a Declaration of Financial Support (Form I-134) from a financial sponsor.
Given these circumstances, would my household be considered sufficiently supported to avoid a public charge determination?

You need to take a look at the 2026 Poverty Guideline Level to determine if your sponsor’s income meets the applicable threshold level to cover their household combined with your household. That is how the determination will be made as to if you or your household member is likely to become a public charge or not.

Hi Mom,

I have a question about the AOS cover letter wording. My DV number is current in the Advance Notification chart of the March 2026 Visa Bulletin, and also current in the current month chart of the April 2026 bulletin (which was released today). In the cover letter, is it better to state that the filing is based on the advance notification chart of March (which sample cover letter states), or the current month chart of April? Either seems allowed by the USCIS policy, so I wanted to confirm which one is recommended.

Thank you so much!

Good evening, Mom,

we are in the USA with a E2 Investment Visa. If I understand correctly, we need to file the I-508 and I don’t want to make any mistakes.
Therefore I am in need of a little help, please:
1. Everyone, including our kids fill out the I-508, correct?
2. Is there an example for the I-508? I couldnt find one
3. Q9 Employment Information. Is that only for diplomatic workers? And we put N/A as E2 holders?
4. Part 2: The actual statement. I would put my name in there, but the form doesnt let me. I know I can do it by hand but it made me think, if I am entitled my the INA Act. or if i need to leave that blank.
Many thanks!

If you’re doing early filing, filing date can be based on either the Mar. or Apr. VB date. If you’re planning on filing in the month in which your CN is current, April in this case, then April. VB date.

1. Correct.
2. None that I’m aware of.
3. & 4. Sorry I can’t guide you on how to fill out the I-508. Please refer to the instructions for the form.

1. That seems to be a response to an email you originally sent to KCC.
3. I recommend you go through the FAQ tab of the AOS process spreadsheet to read up on early filing.
hi mom, my spouse received this letter too. there is an attachment that says

Dear XY,
Thank you for informing us that you plan to apply for adjustment of status with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration
Services (USCIS).
Before you apply, you should know there are some restrictions on who qualifies for adjustment of status in the United
States.

then goes into how to check and the process.
We never sent any emails to KCC, but we did pay the DoS DV Fee and it was cashed around 2 weeks ago. It is not the fee receipt, so im confused what it is. It also mentions that we have to pay the DV fee in order to progress, which, again, we had done.

1. Have you come across this kinds of comms, is it just some sort of followup? or 2NL? (even though we had not sent them any emails?)

It probably got triggered by (a) DS260 form submission - if you submitted the form; or (b) the DV administrative fee payment. Whatever the case, you can ignore the request to make the DV fee payment since you already made it.

that's what I was thinking (triggered by the dv fee as we've not submitted ds-260). I am only waiting for the DV fee receipt to post our package for AOS. thank you for your support!

Hi Mom!
Girlfriend situation (was under U4U > waiting for AOS). We’re in Chicago and I know that generally DV AOS cases take less time than other categories, however, do you think it is possible to apply for Re-Parole (to extend the status) to have a backup status in case DV 2026 doesn’t start/starts too late? Will filing I-131 somehow affect the I-485 status?
Thank you so much as always!

Quite doubtful a re-parole application will be approved considering:
a) She's currently OOO, re-parole application is required to have been submitted 180 days before current parole expiration;
b) She has a demonstrated immigrant intent with the pending AOS application.

Good evening,
1. Is it beneficial to create an uscis online account? Since we have to send all the papers physically to the Lockbox?
2. When I do create an account for each family member, do I get the USCIS Numbers, that I need to fill into the I-485?
3. How do I pay with my CC online? I saw the pay.gov website but it only mentions failed payments. So is that not possible?
4. Do I just add the G-1450 to my AOS package and not pay in advance?
thank you!

I recommend you go through the AOS process spreadsheet. The process and the steps you need to take will be a lot clearer to you if you spend some quality time going through that spreadsheet.
