DV - 2014 - some questions

Hello,

I have applied for DV-2014 for the first time. Unfortunately I was not selected, so I will keep my fingers crossed for next time.

I found this forum a few weeks ago and this is my first post here. I can see, that some of you are real experts when someone needs help.
I have some questions too, and I would be very grateful if someone take some time and answer them.

- I was not selected on 1st of May. When I check my status, it is written:
Based on the information provided, the Entry HAS NOT BEEN SELECTED for further processing for the Electronic Diversity Visa program at this time.

So, does it mean that I can check my status again in October 2013, or is this decision final, and all I can do is to apply for DV2015? If that so, when in October I can check my status again?

- Me and my fiance had both applied. But no one have been selected. In case, one of us is selected next time, do we need to be married before first interview? This is not even a problem, because we will get married soon, but it could be after October. We won't have any problems prove our relationship. We have been together for over 4 years now, and we also live at the same address for almost 3 years... :).

Thank you in advance to anyone who is going to answer.

Regards,

A.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

The 'not selected message' is informing you that your entry was not selected for future processing at this time. This means that on 1st of May selections, your application number was not selected. If any visa will remain available on the second draw of Sept. , you or your fiance may have a chance to get selected. There is no problem if you stop by to check the results again and maybe you will get lucky.
On the other hand, if you will not get selected on a second draw, and if a DV2015 will take place, you can reapply for the DV program if it still fits your needs.
If you will get married before the interview but after getting selected, you have to provide the documents and information to KCC and the Consular Officer will have to 'test' both of you to get the prove that your marriage is the real thing and not just for the visa. But if is the real deal than you will have no problem proving it.

B regards

Thank you for your quick reply.

Do you maybe have the exact date, when in October we can check our status again, or we need to check it every day? :)

I am sorry about my "stupid" questions...

Thank you.

Sorry for asking this, but why are you so sure there will be a 2nd DRAW this year, as far as I know there is not a single legit gov website stating it this year.... And even if they announce a 2nd DRAW why would you assume it will happen in September 2013 and not earlier (in July 2013 for example).

Cheers.

@WilloughbyHills dont worry about it, I am not considering your questions as stupid and I will try to andwer with something anytime. There is no problem if you check everyday or every some months or in Sept-Oct. Is only up to you. But from what I've read online, changes will not happen so soon (in some days)
@ONEDAYIMAY I base my assumptions on history and statistics about DV program. So changes may happen any other day or it may happen in Sept as any other year. Or it may not happen at all. I am not 100% sure there will be a second draw but is verry possible as about 45-50% or more of selectees are to be disqualified for problems regarding education , work exp or finances ( I am relating to statistics available online )

One question: IF you have everything in check but less than 5000$ in your bank account you might be disqualified ? I'm not sure but I've read somewhere that you need to have at least 10k. IS that true ?

help

hello i want to now if the pictures that we need to send whit the forms. we need too write the CN in every pictures ?

@ONEDAYIMAY there is no general rule regarding finances as this may differ from one embassy to another. In some embassy they will never check the finance department but other embassy may ask you to prove to not become public charge showing financial statements are well above 125% of US poverty line per individual per year
@ceskhermina I am not really sure how to respond to your question so maybe you will get the answer from another user
