Kijana, slow down, you have almost a year before you even get called for an interview. Also, you dont have to return the 1st NL (DS-230 & DSP-122 I think?...I did this in April, 2008 so I forgot what these forms are coded) right away UNLESS you have a low number i.e. less than AF5000...

relax, there is not "urgency" to kimbiza you around.

Case in point, my number was 2008AF00043###, and I sent back the 1st NL in May 2008, and got an interview on Aug 1st, 2008. You got plenty time to fill these forms correctly. Like wahenga said..."mwenda pole hajikwai"

There is no affidavit of support address. The address that you have to put at no.10 and 11 is not necessary the one who will give you the affidavit of support.

You don't have to freak out, but an Affidavit (and/or a job offer or own funds) is a requirement. It's not a bad thing to start looking for either one of those three right now.

I agree with E59th....it is just a requirement and if they ask to have proof of either one of them and you can't provide it, you are wasting your own time and the time of the employee and you already know the end result...so better be prepared or stop proceeding any further....

If this is already stopping you or too hard for you what do you think the moving process will be....

No the rules have not changed, also, I'm not talking about which form to send first and which one to send last.

You have to send ALL FORMS, signed and everything. What I am telling you is that you dont have to return the forms right now or-else-the-world-will-end-and-oh-my-god-what-will-i-do-oh-no!-oh!-no!

With your CN, your interview will be in July-Aug 2010, so as long as KCC get your forms back by March 31st 2010, u will be fine.

Just send the forms in now (and DO NOT SIGN part II of DS 230!!!)

and start preparing, which means having one of the three points mentioned, a job or proof of being hired once in the US, enough financial founds of your own, OR a sponser (which you proof with the affidavit of support). They just want to make sure that you will not apply for any help once in the US. They want you to make it successfully on your own (or, with the help of a sponsor!)

The address you mention in the forms are either an address where you now know you will live (eg someone who has a partner in the US, or moves in with family who are already living in the US). I wrote "N/A" as I do not know that now (I have read that you need some kind of address by the time of the interview and like yours, mine is also months away, which is good for the preparation!)
Then the address next to that is a postal address where they will send your papers to. You also include the name(s) of the person/people living there. I put my friends address as this is where I want my papers send to.

If you have such an address now, write it, if not you should still be okay, but I am not sure how that works (better to have an address now:)). In any case, you do not need anything of proof for financial abilities, but you do need that by the time you have an interview.

I also read that people with high education often do not need to show either as they have a very good chance to make it in the US by themselves, same for business owners.

Hope this helps. Just fill out your forms and send them to KCC and start preparing, ask any questions here if you need help. Many people did this before us and they are all very willing to help us! Its great--and so to all prior winners, as well as all other people, thanks for helping out:D:D

Question 10 and 11

Okay the questions 10 and 11 are they necessary now and if not filled can they hinder your chances for an interview?

Let me be clear as clear can be...NOT EVERYONE WILL GET AN INTERVIEW, even if they send their forms now, or 6 months from now.

Also, sending them at whatever time of your choosing will not hinder your chances of getting an interview

Getting an interview depends on 3 things i.e. (1) available visa numbers, (2)your CN and (3) Sept 30th.

For item # 1, there are 50,000 spots to fill. If your neighbor comes with 5 kids+wife, that means 1 winner takes 7 visa numbers of the available 50,000 visa numbers. You come alone, u take 1 of the 50,000...

For item # 2 & 3, it's all a waiting game. Luckily, recent years have shown that KCC can go further than before, so higher CN's might still get interviews.

Anyways, too much rumblings, send the forms right away, and then sit tight an hope you did not mess up, or your contact on the affidavit of support is still valid come interview time...G/L

If you can send it early, why waiting? Sending it early may give you advantage over those with comparable CNs who sends it late. Some people use N/A for that sectionand tries to look for address later.

And you know this base on????...I take it you are waiting to get your GC...

I wont argue with people who have not gone thru the process. I have gone thru it, and I got my GC on Aug 1st, 2008....yet I sent my package (recieved in April 2007) back to KCC on 3 months before my interview (April 28th, 2008 to be exact) and no, those who returned their forms before me had ZERO advantage over me.

I will say it for the last time...take your time, fill it right, and send it ONLY when you feel comfortable with ALL responses...otherwise u will end up coming back here and asking "how do I correct question blah! blah!...I am soooo stressed out I cant sleep". We see these types all the time on this forum.

I also do not understand why the ones who send the forms have more chance than the ones sending lately..

"Once all of the 50,000 DV have been issued, the program will end. In principle, visa numbers could be finished before September 2010."

One must remember that there are 100000 selectees and only 50000 Diversity Visas are issued.

It hasn't happened yet, hasn't it? As an example, my number became current six month before I submitted my I-485 petition. The interview was nine months after the number became current, and the visa number was still available.

I would make sure you answer all questions correctly and then send it right away, it says to do it as quickly as possible in the letter and they start giving GC when the fiscal year starts October 1st 2009

So indeed, if you send in early and have a rather low number, you could have an interview before someone with a lower number who decided to send in in only after 6 months or a year. So it also depends on your number.

You do not need an address where you plan to live now, and best is to have one where the GC is send. If you do not have such an address, you have time to the interview to 'find' it.

(I have also seen people talk about services who 'give' you a US address and forward you mail to you in your country. maybe check that out as well.)

I would send out the forms before the end of Sep 2009 if I were you.
